# About David Ndungu

I'm a software engineer with 20+ years building production systems, the last 8 of them as a Staff/Senior engineer at Zendesk. I ran my own development consultancy for the better part of a decade before that. Today I build AI agent infrastructure and sell done-for-you AI automations to small businesses through [Sire](https://sire.run).

## What I actually build

I don't just prompt models — I build the infrastructure underneath them. That includes [Zerfoo](https://github.com/zerfoo/zerfoo), a from-scratch ML inference engine in pure Go that runs 40+ transformer architectures and decodes faster than Ollama on comparable hardware, and the durable-workflow engine behind Sire, which lets AI agents run as crash-recoverable workflows with a human approval gate on every customer-facing step.

## At Zendesk

Eight years across Staff and Senior engineering roles, with org-wide influence: I drove gRPC adoption, shipped inbound email authentication via ARC, led a zero-downtime etcd v2→v3 migration across every production Kubernetes cluster, and worked diagnostics touching the majority of production services.
